Windows 10 Tutorial: Advanced Searching

Searching for files, settings and other things in Windows 10 is easy enough, but it does not always produce the desired results. Thankfully, advanced searching is something that Microsoft has built in.

You can try using operators like AND, OR and NOT in your searches.

To fix various Windows 10/11 problems, we recommend Outbyte PC Repair:
This software will repair common computer errors, protect you from file loss, malware damage, hardware failure, and optimise your computer for peak performance. In three simple steps, you can resolve PC issues and remove virus damage:

These operators function just like you may be guessing, and can deliver different and better results, depending on the context and usage.

For example, open Settings, click in the search box and enter the word battery.

Results are displayed, but you can even have more results show in here if you type battery OR power, as now the results contain one or the other keyword, or both. Experiment here to be comfortable with the combinations, and see how they improve your results.

These are very handy when you are looking for a specific setting, and simple searching does not deliver.
